5 Article -Some new light on the Joint LSWR/LBSCR Steam Railmotors and LSWR Steam Railmotors.
The Joint Committee pair: Nos 1 (LBSCR livery) and 2 (LSWR livery). Following approval of the Drummond design, Nine Elms constructed the boiler, mechanical fittings etc. Eastleigh the carriage part. No.1 completed by April 1903 ran trials over the Fratton - East Southsea branch. No.1 was in Brighton livery and No.2 LSWR. Following the trials and early service in 1903 the units were rebuilt. Between the and the 1st World War they underwent various alterations and rebuilds. The final outcome was better but not good enough for further to be built.
The LSWR alone persevered with the H12 & H13 designs. Drawings - Original pair - side elevation and table as built and as rebuilt. LSWR H12 side view and table as built, H13 side view and table as built.

44 Accident at Eastbourne Buffer stop collision 23 May 1930. From the Board of Trade enquiry and report of Col A. Trench. On the 21st May 1930 at 6.53 pm the 5.20pm express from Victoria collided with the fixed buffer stops of No.3 platform. The locomotive was No. E767 Sir Valence of the King Arthur class 4-6-0 and seven coaches. Damage was suffered by the locomotive and one coach. 5 Article - Smoke deflectors (and deflection) on the 'Light Pacifics'. Following their large cousins problems with exhaust steam and smoke, so these smaller version produced similar problems and trials began with various alterations, much on the same lines as the 'Merchant Navy' class. So follows a similar trial and error process. The final being the fitting of a Giesl ejector to No. 34064. 37 Article - Riding the 'Rivers'. A close look at the actions and remedies put in after the Sevenoaks accident. Included are tables of the trial on the LNER of engines Nos 803 and 890 on 16/10/1927 and the trial of the same pair on the SR of the 30/10/1927. These highlighted the adverse effect of poor track on the SR. On the face of these findings Walker took the decision to rebuild the two classes. This decision would placate the public while gaining time to convince the board to start the reballasting of those lines using Shingle on a Ash foundation. The article covers the class from 1887 ( hence the nickname 'Jubilee' for Queen Victoria's Golden Jubilee year of introduction) to 1895, which included 40 built by Neilson.
